    Project description


    Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design approached us with a request to modernise their logo. The key requirement was to preserve the brand's historical heritage: the alma mater's shape and main colours had to remain recognisable to students, graduates and teachers. The task was to delicately update the logo rather than radically change its identity.

    Challenge

    The main challenge of the project was to strike a balance between tradition and modernity. It was necessary to:

    • update the visual style without losing the historical context,
    • preserve the logo shape and basic colour palette,
    • make the identity relevant to the modern student audience,
    • ensure the style's versatility for different media — from official documents to merchandise.

    Any changes had to be as thoughtful and justified as possible.

    Our solution

    We began by analysing the existing identity and its use. In the process:

    • we retained the shape of the logo and its key elements,
    • replaced the outdated shade of gold with a more modern and visually balanced solution,
    • developed a system of corporate colours for the faculties,
    • created corporate graphic elements and a pattern.

    The pattern was designed to combine the academic seriousness of the university with the lightness and dynamism of student life. Additionally, we created merchandise that the university can use both for internal events and for communication with applicants.

    Result

    As a result, KNUTD received:

    • an updated logo with a preserved historical form,
    • a modern, structured identity,
    • a colour system for faculties,
    • branded patterns and graphic elements,
    • merchandise adapted for various formats of use.

    All solutions were integrated into a single visual system.

    Impact on business

    The updated identity allowed the university to preserve the brand's heritage while making it more attractive to a modern audience. KNUTD received tools for consistent communication that work equally well in a formal academic environment and in student life.
